Wanna get my young son a good entry level scope, thought this would be a good one for him to start on... What do you guys think.. Leupold vx1 on a savage rascal... Gonna do an egw rail, with a larue tactical qd mount.... This will be my sons first build I guess..lol.

Honestly I don't know why you would spend that kind of money on a 22 starter.
15 years ago when 22 shells were
A: actually available at the local coffee shop
B: didn't cost the same per round as a 50bmg
C: didn't have a 15 round limit per person per day

I've burned through tens of thousands of rounds in 10/22's on ground squirrel hunts all over the west. Honestly a $20 fixed 3X Tasco works beautifully.
22's don't recoil, and most rifles like the rascal aren't for winning the Olympics. To start KISS would do great, but there is nothing wrong with the VX1
