I have a 20" varmint contour barrel chambered in 450Bushmaster on order. I'm in the process of finding a donor rifle and want to get a rifle with close to the same
barrel contour. I don't see any varmint contoured factory barrels. Is a heavy barrel like the 11FV going to be close?
Thanks... Andy

Any of the Model 12's will be that contour.

Can I assume that you want a heavy barreled rifle so the new barrel will fit the stock?

Be that the case, you will be money ahead to pick up whatever Savage you can get a cheap price on and rebarrel it and pick up a Boyd's laminate stock and be good to go with some funds left in your pocket.

Thanks boots!
So a model 12 Boyd or savage stock is what I want then correct?
Thanks again... Andy

Ok I'm a idiot! I originally meant to ask about 12fv not 11fv.

Yup. Just make sure the stock you choose is for the action type you get. Take a look at the location of the bolt release, the magazine type, and the action length. All new 12FV's are Short action with the 4.40" spacing and use centerfeed magazines. Your bolt release will either be a top release on the side of the action, or a bottom release which is in the trigger guard.
