Does anyone know the as-designed dimensions for the scope mount holes on a short action receiver?

I have tried to measure them myself, but it is hard to be absolutely precise.

I figured this information should be readily available since every savage customer will need to find a base to fit the receiver and the scope tube length of their chosen scope. No such luck it would seem.

The question is regarding a 12 FCV and mounting a bushnell 10x40, which has only 6" of mountable length to it.

From what I can measure, the OAL is about 5.670" (c to c on outer holes)

It is my understanding that it is best to measure the center screw holes "center to center".

From the EGW FAQ:

Savage (Pre Accu-Trigger): Flat back receivers were made in 3 different lengths until 2003.
*To be sure, you must measure your center screw spread.

Savage Flat Back – Short Action (SA) - 3.925”
Savage Flat Back – Medium Action – 4.190”
Savage Flat Back - Long action (LA) - 4.612”

Savage (With Accu-Trigger): Round back, guns with accu-trigger after 2003 to date except Edge/Axis.

Short Action (SA): 223 308
Any two-digit model number beginning with a 1 (10, 12, etc.)

Long Action (LA): 30-06 270 280 300 Win Mag
Any three-digit model number beginning with a 1 (110, 111, etc.)
