I bought a trophy hunter xp since it was left handed I had some problems with the cheep axis style mag fixed it now. I'm wondering is the 110 a reliable gun for all around hunting and in the cold i have been looking online and I can't find comments on the ruggedness of the savage 110 trophy hunter or Any other rifle based of the 110 action

LOL the 110 is a work horse. It's inexpensive (maybe not as much so as it used to be), dependable, accurate as heck and easy for the DIY'er to upgrade, swap barrels, tinker with.

The 110 is one of the most rugged dependable firearms made. The ease of owner modification is just a little dessert thrown in. I have bought Savages because I am left handed and Savage makes more left hand guns than anybody else. Not to mention the fact that I can convert one to an even more unusual caliber, like my .22-250 to Savage .250 conversion.

I hunted with a .308 win trophy hunter XP model 11 most of rifle season. Killed a basket racked 8 point and a doe with the rifle and used it as a truck gun at the hunt club too. I have not been a huge fan of the mag but it has yet to fall out. It has gone bang every time without hiccup, even on an 8 degree Wisconsin morning. The reliability of my rifle has been 100% through about 400 rounds.

I'll start my leaning to shoot right handed by banning you with my right trigger finger for that comment. Happy? LOL :p

(bet you'll think twice about being anti-lefty smart@ss next time)

LOL! My 111TH Went bang everytime I asked it to. Temps in the teens in the morning in Ky hunting. I never even think about it not going bang.
