10 Precision Carbine Magazine Questions

A lady friend of mine picked up a Model 10 Precision carbine in .308 Win. yesterday to snipe hogs with. Her only complaint (and mine) is the noisy, loose fitting 10 round magazine. I have searched the internet and this site and have not been able to find a four or five round magazine for this rifle.

Do any of the other Savage detachable magazines fit this rifle?

Does anyone make a reduced capacity magazine for it?

you might take a look at dark eagle custom,,just got 2 of their mags for a creedmoor,,same as 308,,they fit and work great..

I am not sure what magazine/bottom metal setup you are using. If it is all factory Savage parts, then you have a "modified" 10PC utilizing the bottom metal from a 10FCP-SR. For whatever reason, Savage Arms no longer offer the original 10FCP-SR. Can you get us a picture of the bottom metal setup??

I'll take a look. It sure would make it nicer to not have a rattling box hanging from the bottom metal. :thumb:

I have a Dark Eagle custom mag and they do not rattle around and are very nice. Savage will be releasing their own 10 round mag similar to the Dark Eagle except it will be a molded box with the metal feed lips. The Dark Eagle is Aluminum. Not sure when though. You can see it on their model 11 scout and model 10 FCP-SR rifle on the Savage website.

If the rifle is still using the factory (standard type) bottom metal, and hasn't changed to various different models, then Snydermags.com also has a magazine that can be used. Great people, great products, and super fast shipping. I am just very curious what "10 round" magazine the rifle came with that you are referring?? Should prove interesting.
