My buddy has an Axis 308 that failed to fire twice so I broke it down for him. It has brass flakes throughout the bolt from front to back and has only fired maybe 25 rounds since new.
Has anyone else had this issue? Tell me what you can. I would appreciate it! It seems the extra tor is shaving it off but he doesnt save his brass, all I have is the two that didnt fire and a pile of brass flakes. The ones that didnt fire definitely have light primer strikes due to the brass jamming the firing pin.http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/bflee1/29B0A8A0-AF76-487A-A67D-2874891AF623_zpsjm6b80rh.jpg (http://s1286.photobucket.com/user/bflee1/media/29B0A8A0-AF76-487A-A67D-2874891AF623_zpsjm6b80rh.jpg.html) take a look at the extractor. I think its too sharp or wrong angle or something and its shaving brass.

Another thing I noticed is that it had blown the brass all he way to the back end of the bolt. Why is it getting pressure through there? Do I have a headspace issue or something? Its never blown a primer. All around the base of the firing pin is brass dust, and the flakes can be found inside the bolt handle itself. This is after 1-20 round box of ammo. Thanks for your input.

Sounds to me like an external source. Clean thoroughly and try to duplicate for a controlled test.

What ammunition are you shooting?
