I discovered this forum only yesterday. I'm happy to be here.

After I retired I took up firearms as a hobby. I started with handgun shooting at a local indoor range. I got pretty good at it, got my CHP, and I acquired a number of toys. I started to get a little bored with it and decided to check out long guns.

I'm not a hunter, but I have nothing against anyone who does. I just can't warm to the idea of getting up in the middle of the night to trudge out into the cold and wet, climb to some precarious perch, and wait for some animal to walk by. One exception: All squirrels must die. A .22 CB short in my CZ 455 handles that job. Otherwise, I'll stick with benchrest and prone shooting at paper at 100+ yards.

I also load much of my rifle ammo, currently only .223 Rem and .308 Win. I have two Savage model 12s, one .223 and one .308. I also have a Savage Model 16 in .308.
