if you guys dont know who scott parker is then google scott parker beam scale...and you will know that he is THE man when it comes to scales..i have one of his scales...its an old layman D-5 that has been tuned and is dead nuts accurate. i also have a hornady digital scale that i use to weight bullets and brass(free to the first person that PMs me their addy)as it drifts a little but is fine to weigh brass and or bullets or brass with H2O...i dont and never will trust a digi scale to weigh powder charges no matter what ANYONE says...i had a charge master and returned it after 2 days of playing with it...and yes i did the MikkyDs straw thing and everything else. anyway i desided to buy a new digi scale because the hornady scale dosent have an AC plug and shuts off fast. i got the dillon scale today and just got done playing with it and must say im impressed...it was a toss up between the range master and the dillon and i went dillon because it goes to 900gs..anyway i weighed several things that i know exact weight on and the dillon was dead nuts so i weighed out 10 charges of powder...norma MRP...and heres the results....its new so ill keep using it and see how it holds out....

Interesting! only 1/10th variance on both scales. More of a testament to your Powder thrower? I've got a Scott Parker tuned 505 but still trickle up. What type powder were you throwing? What type dispenser were you using? Pretty darned impressive for thrown charges :) .......... OOPS, just noticed you're using MRP.

Powder was weighed first on the D-5 but not just throwen the charges were trickled up...i use a lee perfect powder measurer now...ive had a couple of high end throwers but still had to trickle...i traded both off for parts. I also owned a charge master...for 2 days...that i played with for about 5 hours and took it back...i tried every trick i could find and never could get it clsoe to throwing a constant charge. The reason i bought the dillon is to weigh brass and bullets but i thought id check it against the D-5 just to see how accurate it was...pretty accurate as it turns out but its still new and i had to clean up the 4 pegs on the tray that goes into the load cell with some 2500 grit sand paper as the tray was a little sticky because of burs/casting at the bottom of the legs..i also wiped the whole thing down with a used drier sheet to get any static off and its set on a piece of glass.

Thanks for the clarification and the reminder that I need to send my trusty old RCBS 10-10 off to Scott also. The only thing better than a Scott Parker tuned scale is two of them :) No fear of Solar flares, fluorescent lights, stray electricity from other power sources. No line conditioners to install either. Electronics are a great thing but, not when they needlessly complicate or become erratic. Good luck with the Dillon. And Happy New Year!!!

Lol....scott is the man for sure and stands behind his work. I will never weigh charges on anything but one of his scales.and happy new year to you as well!
