I'm currently looking into buying a new rifle to use for whitetail hunting in Oklahoma and I've came across a savage 111 .270 and upon trying to look up the serial number I've found nothing. I have shot the gun it is prob the most accurate gun I've shot in a long while but I've had no experience with the savage brand. So I guess what I'm asking is what year was this gun made and what is the estimated value of it and not sure of rules about serial numbers so will put most but not all on here F6721xx

"F" prefix with a serial number higher than F498821 = Nov. 1st, 1995 through the end of 2002

As far as price goes it depends on the condition of the rifle etc. Need more information to determine a fair price.

As far as I can tell it is in great shape has a clean bore, wooden stock, iron sights 3x9 trophy hunter scope, internal mag w/o drop plate, and the only blemishes are 2 tiny scratches in the stock both together smaller than a dime

Depends, also, on what similar guns are selling for in your area. I am not familiar with the scope, so I can only comment on the rifle. There are many versions of "wood" stocks out there. Different styles of pistol grips, comb, checkering, etc. If it is a fine grade of Walnut (somewhat rare for Savages) with CUT checkering, the rifle alone might be worth $400. Well, the stock could be worth more than $400 for that matter, but I am sure that's not the case. If it is cheaper maple with stamped checkering, the rifle might be worth $300 if it functions well and has a decent trigger. You say it shoots well, that's good, but most Savages do. I've had dozens of used Savages and most will get .75 inch groups or better at 100 yards with good load development. In fact, I would trash a barrel that doesn't. All of mine get 1/2 inch or better at 100 yards.

If you like it, get it. It's not an unfair price. It might be called "high retail" around here, though.
Good luck

If you send your ipad pics to my email I will post them for you. I sent you a PM with my email. IMO $400 is a bit steep but if you like the rifle and it shoots good go for it.

Personally, I think he would accept $300, maybe $320 and be fair to bot of ya.
