Hey kinda new around here, been lurking for awhile....thanks to you guys have the itch to do some barrel swapping lol!

My plan is to utilize a savage 112 flat top 22-250 heavy barrel hidden staggered feed mag, that has been sitting in my safe for way to long! I would like to put a light varmint/ heavy sporter 260 on that action, my ? Is will the current bolt need any modifications? Will the mag work?

my other plan was to take my 16 weather warrior in 243 hidden inline feed magazine and go with a 22-250 sporter 1/10 twist.....will that bolt head need any modifications? Will the mag work?

I'm certain I will have many more questions.....I did consider 6.5-284 for the 112 but the hidden mag is too small and certain the bolt would require work but please correct me if I'm wrong.....would be using the 260 for longish (400-600yrds) Deer hunting.

It is exactly what you need. All of those have the same parent cartridge, .308. So... go for it. The 260 is now my favorite deer cartridge as well, from zero to as far as I can see! :)

All have the same parent cartridge?

The 250 Savage outdates the 308 Winchester by a few years(30 or so). You could form 250 Savage brass from 308 Win brass...but good luck trying to form 284 Win brass from it.

My bad. I guess the 22-250 originally came from necking-down the 250 Savage. Don't know what I was thinking. The .243 came from the .308. Regardless, they both use the same .473 bolt head. I am unfamiliar with the 6.5-284. Though they all use .473 bolt head, I do believe the body of the 6.5-284 case is larger than the rest, so it might not feed well from the .308/260/243 mag. Or, it might just require the lips to be opened up a bit to allow it to feed right.

In any event, to answer your original question, there's no reason you can't go from 22-250 to 260 (and vice-versa) without anything more than a simple barrel change, same with the .243.

+ 1 for foxx....no problem using either of those cartridges with either action. No problem using 6.5x284 in either one as far as the bolts goes, but as already stated it may not feed quite right (without some minor mods) due the straight taper case.
You have decided on some excellent cartridges by the way!
And...Merry Christmas!
