Where or what type of store/supplier do I go to locally for 120 grit aluminum oxide?

I've looked online, it seems to require ordering from specialty supply houses. I thought I should be able to get it locally. If not, who do you that use this stuff recommend?

The closest thing I know of in a local store is 80 grit aluminum oxide at Harbor Freight. Brownells sells some smaller quantities of media than I have seen elsewhere if you're looking to avoid high shipping costs. Their "coarse" is 120 grit.

Have you tried Tractor Supply? These stores are everywhere. After having tried several types of media, I have settled on glass beads.

Yep, I think that is where I ended up getting it from. about $60 for a 50 lb bag.

Thanks, guys.

I thought they'd have it but they don't.
GunKote says 120 alum oxide.
Not knowing enough about it all to risk anything else for this application.

Any sandblasting supply company in the yellow pages listed under sandblasting-supplies.

for what do you need sandblasting media ? It#s very abrasive.

For gunparts I always use glass bead blasting, nice matte touch and less abrasive. Strong enought to remove rust.

GunKote pretty much "requires" it before applying. I called the company and the techs would not budge on that. They said it is needed for proper adhesion. I have yet to try it, but I am also hoping it will create a textured, matte surface. I would also like to see what I can get, finish wise, with the glass bead blasting.

I just checked Tractor Supply website and they sell some. If your local store doesn't carry it they can probably get it with free shipping if shipped to the store.

Here is a picture of my Swede. The system and the bolt are glass bead blasted with a pressure of 55-60 psi.

The system is hot blued
