Looking to buy or build 308 26 inch fluted barrel with a break or threaded barrel. Savage site is hard to navigate. I wanna put this on a Choate stock... I wanna get into some long distance shooting thought this would be a good entry level rifle to get going.. What do you guys think? Thanks dave

To the best of my knowledge, no they don't. They do have a couple of models in 24" IIRC. There's a 12BVSS in 308 that's 26" but not threaded.

Personally for the money I would start with this one below and upgrade as you grow. The shorter barrel won't hurt your accuracy and shouldn't kill velocity too bad. Once you grow a bit just upgrade the barrel to an aftermarket one of your liking. Also I wouldn't bother with the flutes, their claimed benefits are arguable at best and really only true gain is cosmetic.

By the time you find what you are looking for you might as well build one off a new or used receiver. It would work out money wise only a little more to build and start with a good quality barrel especially for long range shooting. Most guys are running 30 inch barrels to get the most performance they can.
