Picked up a new S&W 642 with 2.5" barrel (38 special)

After my first attempt to shoot some ammo, I found out real quick that I need practice shooting a DAO revolver. I'm used to semi auto pistols and DA/SA revolvers.

I'm going to be shooting 110g bullets (non +p) and I'm looking for a suitable load for practice. I've got all the stuff to cast my own boolits but I gotta find time to actually do it. Soooo, in the mean time I'm wanting to make a load with some cheaper jacketed bullets to practice with.

Suitable powders I have on hand would include bullseye, unique and blue dot.

Anyone got a good practice load for snub nose revolvers?

Trappst I use Berry's Mfg. Plated bullets in 38 357 and 44 mag. for practice. There is no worries about leading and they are reasonable.

Unfortunately, Berry's doesn't make a plated 110g bullet. I'm really wanting to stick with the same weight bullet as the ammo I'll be carrying in it. In this case, the Hornady 110g critical defense ammo.

Probably gonna get some Hornady 110 xtp's as they are pretty cheap.

Can't help you with the bullet but your Bullseye is the "go to" powder. We load a 148 gr HBWC over 2.1 grs of Bullseye for a very mild and accurate target load. Years ago I got a deal on bulk pack Remington 110 gr JHP's from Weidners. I loaded those over 8.8 grs of AA #5. Very accurate load but its +P and wouldn't be much fun in a snubby. I still have four or five hundred of them.

Thanks charlie. I had looked at the Remington's too......

You wouldn't want to get rid of those would ya (or maybe part of 'em)?
