Hi guys,

This site has been a great resource. I have learned a lot, but now I was hoping that you guys could chime in with your opinion.

Anybody here have experience with Hawke Scopes?

I like the 30mm tube and illuminated reticule for roughly $400. Is there another brand I should consider?
Most of my experience is with Leupold scopes but I'm not willing to spend more than $500 on a scope. (student loans etc. etc.)
Can I expect a Hawke scope to have comparable durability and clarity close to my LP vxIII? I have heard good things about the hawkes on other sites but value the opinions on this site much more.

Check out the Vortex Viper even though they don't have ill. Reticles. I personally don't have one but the guys on this site swear by them and you can get them at SWFA for $400 which is the same as the Hawke.

I've got the 8X32X50 Vortex Crossfire on my 6mm BR. It's a 30mm tube, I really like it. Good value for $250.

my boss just purchased a new hawke sidewinder 8.5-25 scope. The features on the scope are nice; locking turrets (pull up to adjust), illuminated retice (red/green), side focus. We compared this scope next to my super sniper 20x and the optics appear to be the same. The reticle is nice. It is half moa mil marks. He is mounting it on a 7mm savage heavy barrel for long range shooting. After he gets a couple rounds down the tube and performs the usual box test I will update you guys. I might purchase one myself.

I have the sidewinder 6X24 for about a year now. everything seems fine except for some hazing at the highest magnification. I'm satisfied

I'm glad to hear a couple of people have these. I'm looking at one also. I'm looking at the Endurance 30mm in 3-10x50 for coyote hunting with my new model 25 in .223
