So i just ordered it and planning on swapping it out this weekend. Looking forward to it. Anyone have any specific tips or tricks for swapping over? do I need to mod the byods stock at all in the way of adding some clearance to free float or is it good enough?

Also Im going to be doing the clicker pen spring swap and polish the sear while I have it apart. Ill be installing a Nikon M-308 scope next week.

Any other thoughts here for me?

BTW this is my first thread and i should introduce my self as well.

My name is Bruce. 15 year navy vet and small business owner reselling AR-15 parts and accessories as well as tactical gear, LEO gear (we custom design and make) and some other fun stuff. But my day job is Im a senior systems engineer. (computer geek for the layman)

Anyway thanks a head of time.

Bruce,

Welcome to the board.

This stock should be a drop in. I pillar bedded mine when I got it, just because. Not sure if it helped accuracy, but it made me feel better.

I would have a backup trigger available before you start your mods on it. Personally, I would just drop the money on a Sav2 or one of the other after market triggers.

Thanks for the info, i am just doing a spring mod so keeping factory spring and replacing it, so I can always go back.. and the polish on the sear will just clean up the engagement. But you make good points

SAV-2 is not compatible with the Axis, but a SAV-1 works well.

I got my Boyd's stock today. I opted for all the extras like the better finish, stippling, black plastic grip cap, angled end cap, and white line spacers. I'm happy with it. The magazine is a tight fit and requires a bit of pressure on the front for the clip to snap into place. This is, however, better than a loose fit. The overall fit appears to be quite good. I tested the barrel channel with some currency of the realm and found it to be free floated all the way to the chamber. There is more I want to do to this rifle, but so far, so good. It's been probably 15 or 20 years since I had something with a wood stock. I'm back...

As I got it from the wife for my 50th birthday last year.

With the new stock from Boyd's. Looks and feels like a completely different gun.

Apologies for photo quality, my cell phone is my only camera right now.
