I was gifted from an elderly neighbor thousands of once fired 30-06 brass (circa 1970's) all in great shape. I would like to resize
these into 308. My question is how difficult is it and would it be worth it? I do not own a 30-06, nor do I wish to
buy one.

I would sell it and just buy 308 brass. Save a lot of time and effort. There are companies out there that will buy bulk once fired brass to resell it. I would see if they're interested. Then you can pick up some Lapua or other quality brass and 150-200 of them will easily shoot out a 308 barrel.

That was my thought as well. Sell them or trade for 308.

It can be done and its really not all that hard but it takes time. I have made lots of 260 cases from lake city match 06 brass. I cut the neck off at the shoulder, anneal it, then run it through the 308 die and trim to size. Not hard at all but 308 brass is not hard to find.

Open your mind, Buy an -06, Smile as you load the antiquated cartridge , Grin as the rifles will share most components , Burst out laughing as you realize the performance advantage and amazing accuracy of the -06
You can thank me later :)

or you can do what I did and go 6.5-06 and neck it down. Then send a 140gr Berger VLD at 3000+FPS and laugh at the 5" group you just shot at 900yds just goofing off not being serious it.
