I took this busted up 8 pt last year with the .260rem at 150yds with a 123gr Amax handload. This year I got my biggest buck to date with this 10pt. He also fell to the 123gr Amax handload. The 8 ran 30yds after being hit high in the lungs and the 10 dropped dead in his tracks after hitting him in the neck, head on at 80 yds.

Thanks guys. tufrthnails, I lived in Florida for 12yrs and I would never move back. The only thing I miss is 100 days a year on the water in the gulf fishing. I will take the white stuff.

Like the savage you have. How does it shoot at 100yds? I was thinking about getting the savage 10 in .260.

With 123gr Amax over 42.2gr of H4350 in a Win 7mm-08 case necked down I am getting .8in groups. I tried a few different loads with 142gr SMKs which is my preferred bullet but it does not seem to like them or the 140gr Amax. My Savage 12LRP in .260 will shoot .244in 5rd groups with 142gr SMKs over 44gr of H4350 in the same cases. I will be doing a lot of load development this summer to get it shooting the heavier bullets. If it doesn't it will get a new barrel.
