I want to get a bipod for my savage and have been wondering wether I need aN adapter.

It really depends on what bipod you have or getting. Harris bipods attach via the sling stud. Atlas bipods attach to picatinny rails. Most cheapo bipods attach to your sling stud. You can buy an aftermarket part to upgrade your Harris bipod so it attaches to picatinny rails instead.

Weaver also makes a picatinny rail adapter that attaches to your sling stud.
