My fiance bought me a 99 (I believe its a G) in 300 Savage for Christmas. It has a nifty Pachmayr flip over scope base/ring combo mounted to the side of the receiver. I tried mounting both a 2.5x33 Tasco and a 1-4x20 VX-1 on it and ran into the same issue with both. The bottom of the adjustment turrets will not clear the base. Did these not use 1'' rings or did older scopes simply have a lower profile? Sorry for the bad picture qauilty. Had to use my "smart" phone.

I think they used period correct scopes with those rigs.

A Weaver K4 or K3 would work.

Whats the serial range of that gun? Is it a take down model?

Its not a take down. Serrial # is 420xxx. I have an old Redfield Wiedvew 2-7 that I need to get back from my uncle that im thinking migh clear. If not looks like I'm buying a vintage Weaver

Ya, thought it looked like a solid frame, what you have there is a model EG from what I can see. The forearm tapers as it runs towards the barrel so I ruled out the RS. Does it have a Schnabel tip on the end of the forearm or are there 2 rings at the end of the forearm?

Its a Schnabel. Nice checkering on both the forearm and the semi pistol grip. Beautiful case hardening on the lever.
