I have a 110 LA with the Tupperware stock and I dont like the flex in the forearm I have plenty of barrel float but when I add on the Bi pod there is plenty of flex. Has anyone went to a Boyds stock because of this problem if so did it help with the flex.

I own five Boyd's stocked rifles. 4 of the 5 were 'finished' when they arrived and none needed anything but to screw in and shoot. I did, of course, bed the tang and chamber on each. The fifth one was 'unfinished'. I will not do that again. First of all it had to have 3/8ths of an inch of wood removed forward of the floor plate. The barrel channel had to be enlarged for the action to 'seat'. Not being a stock maker, or even having proper tools, this was a beast of a job, but once done, the 1891 Argentine Mauser with the new .257 Roberts barrel slowly burned it way from 1.50 inch to a .44 five shot group. Go 'finished' if at all possible.

Just called them today to check on my first order with them. It's due in tomorrow. I'm stoked!

Ben hadd do you still have the forearm flex with the boyds stock?

That's great to hear about Boyd's stocks.
I'm thinking about one to replace the factory synthetic (plastic) stock. The rifle shoots litty bitty groups all day & deserves a good stock.

I have not noticed any forend flex at all. (30-06; 270; 308; 7x57 mau and 1891 Arg) When I glass bed I also do about 1.5 inches at the end of the stock, making sure that it also free floats. I use electrical tape to wrap the barrel to achieve this. One layer. I used to bed the entire inletted stock from tang to muzzle, but quickly learned that I was just wasting good glass. Now I only do those stress areas, plus the last bit of forend. I've had great success with "Boyds" stocks and you cannot beat the price.

Our times overlapped... 1981-2009. Thanks for all you did brother.

I am curious why you would bed the barrel channel? Don't you want the barrel to freefloat?

I was sent the wrong stock by Boyd's. I ordered "short action" and they sent me a "long action" for my Axis. They are making it right, good people... Lady I spoke to was going to e-mail me a pre-paid UPS shipping label for the return, but I live in a dinky little town, no UPS, plus I don't have a printer. I told her I would ship it USPS on my dime if they upgrade the recoil pad to the next one up, she said it was a deal. Cool. I will say this, if the right one is a nice as the wrong one was, I will be pleased. The one I just sent back was gorgeous.

Thank you both for your service!

I have the same problem with forearm flex. I plan on getting Boyd's pro varmint after the holidays.

I am saving for a Boyd's stock, I think it'll dress up the rifle considerably.

That's cool. They do make Walnut as well, though.

You are right they do, I will have to look at their web again.
Thanks.

Got mine in today. Tested the barrel channel with some currency of the realm... it's free floated all the way to the chamber.

Who knows? It may be a while before I get it to the range. I can tell you that I'm going nuts looking at it....
