hello all
customer dropped off a 110 pre accu-trigger with a misfire problem noticed when you close the bolt it doesn't close completely, you can press the bolt handle down but it springs back up when you
let go of it , I have tried different bolt thay all do the same thing

Keep in mind more than likely don't know any more than you but I think I would look at the area where the lugs engage the action. Might be something in there causing interference. If there is an obstruction then it could cause the bolt head to set back (off) the bullet. Maybe!

Thats kinda what I was thinking too.

Sounds like either the front action screw is too long (remove and inspect for wear then try cycling bolt with screw removed to confirm) Or one of the scope base screws are unusually long and interfering from above. If that all checks out remove trigger group and test for function.

Does it do it when you take the action out of the stock?

Patch has the right idea. Start off loosening the front action screw if that dont work take a marker to the bolt lugs on the outside diameter. Try to close it and inspect your marker for contact points. It should be hitting anything on the outside.

thanks for the replies
stock on or off same thing

put bolt out of second action in this action no problems

I'm guessing that perhaps the firing pin is jammed. May need to disassemble the bolt.

If the problem is in the bolt you definitely have to tear it down. Its not hard.

The button that rides that cam is the pin. Slide it down the cam toward the bolt head. Then unscrew the bolt assembly screw on the rear. Everything falls apart from there...

Any updates? What did you find?

Yes, inquiring minds would like to know......

I was going to state your sear could cause a similar problem, but you have ruled that out.

Gotta be something in the bolt. Tear it down and give it a good cleaning. Look for any possible causes.

How many rounds has this bolt shot?

hello all
I went back to the rifle today
tried two bolts out of other rifles I have the same problem with both bolts

I must have mistakenly eliminated the sear, in the morning will start over with replacing sear and see what happens

This might be a leap, but this is the only thing I can think of that would make it do that. You said it was a pre-accutrigger, but I'm really leaning that the bolt has been changed to a newer version that uses the 1 pc. firing pin and spring.

I thought you had previously tried another bolt and it worked fine????

If not then check the front action screw. Try removing it and then close the bolt. If its too long it'll bind the bolt.
Scope base screws?

If that stiff checks out head into the trigger group

A picture of the bolt showing the cocking piece pin and window and of the trigger may help.
