Looking at buying a used 111 3006 but is comes as a detach mag and would like to have a blind mag. Does anyone know if a J prefix 111 can be converted to a blind mag?

i don't know the answer to your question, but I don't really care for detach mags either. I do, however, prefer the hinged floorplate over the blind.

The DBM shouldnt be a problem to convert to blind mag, unless theres somethin with the J series I dont know. Obviously a stock is needed but you can use your existing mag box and follower. Just remove the bottom metal from the mag itself. Youll need an L clip to hold it in the stock, theyre available from Savage for a couple bucks (I bought a couple extras for future builds). Hope this helps

1 more question...

This is a 2013 NON accutrigger model and it looks like the trigger is NOT adjustable? Am I missing something?

That sounds correct. Mine was a 2013 model and had a 2 screw trigger, that wasnt really adjustable. I put a rifle basix in mine, drop in easy fit, no problem at all. They offer 2 models, #1 and #2, one goes from around 8oz to around 1-1/2lb IIRC and the other is 2-4lb again IIRC. There are several other triggers out there that are good too, that just happens to be what I have.
Btw, If it would help, I think Ive got some pics showing the dbm to blind mag conversion.

I'm confused!

1. There's no such thing as a 111 in .30-06 on a J-series. J-series actions are short-actions, the .30-06 is a long-action only cartridge.
2. If it was made in 2013 there's no way it can be a J-series because the J-series action length was discontinued in 1988.

As for the DBM to blind mag conversion, it's just a matter of getting a blind mag stock w/hanger clip and popping the bottom plate off your DBM to make it a blind mag housing.

Serial # is J series to date it to 2013. Sorry for the confusion
