I have a Savage Model 11 in 223 that I use to shoot from a bench with sandbags, and am planning on using for my range's modified F-class events shooting prone using sandbags. I am sure I will end up putting a bipod on the front eventually.

I am having trouble deciding between these 2 stocks. I like the pro varmint, but wish it was vented to help cool the barrel.

I have never shot a thumbhole, so not sure what to think about it.

Any thoughts and insights would be appreciated.

One thing I do not like about the thumb hole stocks are the roll over cheek piece, while they feel and look nice it could be pretty tricky to add a cheek riser if needed.
Best suited for free hand shooting as best I can tell. I do not and have not owned one, so I could be wrong about that but that's how it looks.
I do own a "tacticool" that appears to be the modern "pro varmint". Great stock (for wood) I got mine in pepper laminate, easy to convert to adjustable and down right perdy..............I would not loose sleep over cooling vents if I were you.
