Here is my pepper laminate classic with added end caps and checkering.

Love it

Nice. Looks just like my rem 700 300 rum, but with the added end cap. Same scope and everything.

Did you hog that out for the barrel, or did it come that way? I just ordered a stock from them, but I ordered it normal as I want to see what the factory barrel can do first. Just wondering how difficult it is to widen the barrel channel, in case I end up going with a thicker tube down the road.

I did open up the barrel channel, it's not difficult just takes a little time. I used 50 grit sand paper and long socket.
This barrel is a magnum contour and there is room left to go bigger.

This is a beautiful looking rifle. What stock is that? The photos on their site were crappy and don't show the gun, just the stock. Kinda hard to tell how it will look by a tiny photo of a bare stock. I ordered the Heritage. Can hardly wait for it to come. That barrel looks real nice too. Who makes it? Where did you get it? What profile is it? How does it shoot? Do you have a build thread on this gun?

Thanks, it's a Boyds Prairie Hunter.
The build details are in Pic Post section, page 4, titled "Creedmoor with a twist"

Got my Boyd's stock in today. Stoked is the word. Fits nice, looks great, free floated all the way to the chamber.

nice, I bought a few plain ones, its worth the extra cash to get the checkering and endcaps in my book.

I love it. Looks like the classy hunting guns I used to lust after as a young one. I can't wait to test fire it... but I'm kinda scared to get a scratch on it now.

My wife did get me the pro varmint, centerfeed stock for Christmas. It's camo color as you can tell from the picture. It looks great. Now if I could just find the time to open up the barrel channel and bed it, I'd be in business.

Try this tool!! (http://www.gunline.com/inletting.html)

I bought one of these, and it makes short work of free floating a barrel. The laminate stocks took a bit longer as the wood is a lot harder, or so it seemed. I open my barrel channel up so there is plenty of room for air flow all around the barrel, right back to the front of the recoil lug.

This was money well spent.

For a 1" bull barrel, did you use the 1" or the 1 1/8" cutter? Is it significantly faster/easier than using 80 grit sandpaper and a dowel? Thanks

Looks like a slick tool anyway.

I think I used the 1 1/8" tool. I wanted plenty of room for the barrel to clear the channel. The trick was when I bedded the action, I wrapped electrical tape around the barrel to keep it centered in the channel.

It shoots, so I am happy.
