My Axis is having a problem where the last couple of degrees of bolt lift has to be hit with the palm of your hand to get it to extract. It is happening at a random occurrence. You can feel it click then you can pull the bolt back to extract the round. Happening with factory 223 NOT 556 ammo and reloads.

Have you tried pulling the bolt apart and cleaning it?

Does the bolt also stick after dry firing? If so, it could be a problem on the cocking surfaces. If not, check the surfaces of the primary extraction mechanism on the front of the bolt handle and the back of the receiver for dents or burrs.

Are you shooting lacquer coated steel cased ammo tomme boy?

I have stripped it and cleaned it and no steel cased ammo.

DrThunder88 probably nailed the problem but if not, maybe try measuring out the casings that were in when the bolt handle stuck and compare them to cases that did not stick. Throat diameter, web diameter, shoulder length, width of rim rebate, length and thickness of neck especially pay attention to primer seating depth and firing pin markings.
