I've got a Savage Axis II XP in .223 that I've already upgraded the stock to a Boyds thumbhole. Now I'm upgrading the scope to a Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50 (MRAD reticle/turrets, specs here (http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-hs-t-6-24x50-riflescope-with-vmr-1-moa-reticle)). I'm shooting targets at 100, 200 and 300 yds but hope to do some ELR shooting next summer up to 1,000 yards (thus the reason for a 20 moa rail). I'm guessing I'll need tall rings to clear the bolt. I've already spent 2x what I thought I would on glass, but the Viper HS-T came very highly recommended, so I'm hoping not to spend too much on the rail and rings. Suggestions?
