Hi guys, just been to the range today to try out my new Aixs II XP in .223 rem.

I have installed a Weaver base and weaver scope mount yesterday because I need to move the scope further back, Also bore sighted.

The middle six shots were at 25 yards, the lower three shots being the first ones (circled)
The top groups were after I adjusted the scope a little. Looks I may need to adjust a bit more, or I need to work on my triggering....

Are the groups acceptable?

Thanks

Edit:
Middle group at 25 yards, other groups at 100 yards

Were all groups fired at 25yds or just the middle 6?

Either way the 3-shot group "AE Red 55grMJBT" appears to be your best grouping. More testing will tell the tale, but I would work your way out to 100yds if all these groups were at 25yds, that will give you better indicators.

Hi, sorry forgot to say, the middle group was at 25 yards, the other four were at 100 yards.

Good, because I did not want to be the first to say it, but none of those were acceptable at 25 yards. :)

@ 100 yds, I'd say that's down right respectable!

Yup. I agree.

Getting away from the FMJ style bullet will help, but that lower right group would be my choice so far. FMJ's are just not known for their accuracy. I would try something with a HP or a Ballistic Tip styled bullet.

Good groups for a sporter weight barrel and factory ammunition. Handloads can/will tighten groups when you find a load it likes.

FMJ factory loads are not noted for accuracy. Going to soft point or plastic tipped ammo should shrink group size, but for best accuracy consider loading your own with soft points or plastic tip bullets. I rarely shoot factory loads. Usually when I do it is to confirm velocity and pressure to compare with my hand loads, but I have seen great accuracy with Hornady soft point and VMax factory loads and from Fiocci loads using Hornady bullets.

try 69gr or 77gr federal gold medal match. i'm sure you can get groups significantly better.
