Thinking about a Axis HB 223 for P-dogs, anyone know the twist and do they shoot 69 grain bullets ok. How about 75 grain amax ? I think the model number is 22209 for the HB that I am looking at.

Twist is 1-9. Will shoot the 69gr Sierra and the 70-73gr Bergers. Don't know about the 75 Amax.

Just ordered the Axis HB 223, the long term plan is to rebarrel into 6mmx45 next fall . I was planning on shooting 69 grain bullets through it but none in town. Anybody shoot 50 grain V-max or Z-max in their HB 223 and how do they shoot ? I have plenty on hand to reload, also I plan on using CFE223 to load in the 223, anybody have good luck with it?

It looks like the 50 grain BT is not to popular in the Axis , I did read where one guy was using CFE powder with I think a 69 grain bullet with very good results.

The 50 gr zmax shoots really well in my Axis HB. It will do 3/4" groups normally. On a day when I am shooting really good and I am holding my tongue just right, it will go under 1/2"

Real happy with the HB Axis 223 , its a shooter. Went out today for the first time with it. I would post a pic of the target but I don't have a photo bucket account.

Depends on the barrel. I built my son a 223 bench rifle using a factory stainless fluted 223 barrel with 1/9" twist. His LOVES the 75 grain A-Max but since they've been "temporarily discontinued", I had to rework his loads with the Hornady 75 grain BTHP that shoot just as well.
