Hi all, I just got a Savage Axis II XP which is supposed to be in Camo, but it came with black stock. To cut a long story short, Savage is sending me the correct stock, and I need to send them back the black one, but I get to keep the black magazine.

This rifle's scope ring was also off, the rear clamp was not sitting properly on the rail.

I have just ordered a one piece rail (because I need to move the scope back) and hoping to use the scope and scope rings for now.

My question is, what should be the torque settings on the screws for the Action screws, Rail screws, Scope ring to Rail screws, and the Scope rings.

Thank you very much.

Try this for the action screws http://www.accurateshooter.com/technical-articles/savage-action-screw-torque-tuning/ torque for the scope rail are 25 inch lbs.

I wouldn't torque much tighter than 15 in-lbs when tightening aluminum scope rings, if that's what you have.

As for the action screws, I don't know how well the injection molded stocks respond to torque tuning, but I leave mine set at 25 in-lbs since that seems to be what a lot of manufacturers recommend. Or at least that's what it seemed like when I started doing it.

Thank you all for your input.

I ordered a Weaver rail Model no: 48347 and called weaver for torque settings, and they recommended 15-20 inch lbs.

For scope rings - Weaver Cross Lock rings Model 49305, they recommended 10-15 inch lbs. for the top half, and 35 inch lbs. for ring to base.

I have just mounted the base with a little loctite 222. I know some recommend 242, but I had a hard time removing the base on my 10/22 last time. Waiting for the rings now.

Just to update the thread for future reference, there's a guide that came with the Weaver rings, and the recommended settings were different from what the guy I spoke with at weaver has given me. I told him the exact model number when I asked, maybe he just guessed, and did not look at their catalogue.

Also on the Stock, I rang Savage and was told 30-35 inch lbs.

I also found the settings on the Savage website:
