So iv been dying to have a 6.5 x 47 or 6mmBR . but im on a budget. So would i be better to buy one used or find a short action and get a barrel. I really want a 6mmBR . if i could find a model 10 action for a few hundred id take it

The build is easy. It's the brass and other components to get going that are costly. Buddy just built one though and it's very smooth. Hard to keep up with my 308.

Yeah iv just looked a brass and other components. Im thinking maby 243 would be easier. Wheres a good place to find a decent priced action like a model 10

Here on the classifieds. Look at the 6.5 Creedmoor. Virtually the same, but quality factory ammo and cheaper brass.

You may also want to consider building off of an Axis, instead of a regular Savage action. May save you a few bucks depending on what you find. My last build was a 6.5 Creedmoor. I ran across a youth model Axis in .243 on clearance for $179 and sold the barrel, so I've got a little over $100 in the action.
