Barrel says Model 111, Savage website serial number match says Model 11?

Hi All,

First and foremost, this is my first post within the forum and I thank you all in advance for your help in the future!

Ok-- I have a Model 111 that is chambered in 22-250. I'd like to change a bunch of things and make it a build gun(stock, bull barrel etc), but I'm confused about the model. The barrel has "model 111" on it, but when I search the serial number with Savage, it is showing as "11 FXP3".

So my question here is, is the model 111 and model 11 the same(is one older/renamed?).

111 is long action, 11 is short action. Older 22-250 was long action, later are short action. Measure center to center distance of action screws & let us know & someone will help solve. Does magazine stay on action or does it stay in stock when they are separated. Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the reply Short Action-- once I get it apart I'll get back and check the forum, as I've seen some of the posts about distance of action screws etc. For right now, I know that it was manufactured in 1997, so would I be right in assuming it is the older model long action?
