Split my time between camp in UP and working in WI. Just bought a SS 116 FXP3 SP, 30-06. Been wanting something I can bang around more and not worry about the wood stock, or the elements. Put a VX-2 2x7 with hold over dots on it.

Mostly just deer hunt. Just finished my first year of bear hunting, eating tag soup.

I hand load handgun, and have the dies to start reload 30-06. Just never done a necked down cartridge before.

I bought this gun to maybe tinker with a little, but so far I am really happy with it as is.

Welcome.
I'd recommend some IMR 4350 for that -06 and some good 165gr pills
-06 is a piece of cake to load

I got 4350. But I got Noslers 180s, partions and accubond. Only thing stopping is I have only loaded straight wall. Last time I started to do it, I didn't lube enough and got my sizing die stuck. I replaced the parts, but just forgot about it.

Where I hunt most shots 20-40 yards. I want to try some farther stuff, just to learn the drop, and just in case.

I use the hornandy one shot lube. Spray heavy from all angles before sizing. Also make sure to sneak your die down to the shoulder. I generally will soot up the neck on a candle before hitting with spray lube. Then adjust the die until you barely bump the shoulder.

If you do get stuck all you need is a 1/4-20 tap tap drill a socket washer and a bolt.

Tap the primer pocket, but the correct socket over the die and thread a bolt with washer into the back and wrench it until the case comes out. Real easy.

Welcome to the site. Nw l.p. here. Shooting deer with a 6.5 creedmoor loaded with 140 vlds.

Took a decent buck up in the garden peninsula with it

I seen your bear last week. ******* was coming right at me, stopped him 10 yrds from my tree
