I have several Savage rifles now, two custom model 16's in 6.8 SPC II. I was thinking in bed just now, why doesn't the bolt come back further than to 223 length, even though I started with a Savage 6.5 Creedmoor center feed action.

Then I realized I used the 223 front baffle in both bolt assemblies. Right now I am trying to make the 223 axis style DBM work with the 6.8 ammo. Here is a photo of the modified magazine with 3 SSA Berger 140 VLDs in 6.8

But I could load the ammo to the rear of the magazine instead of the front if I used a 308 front baffle?

Here is the action open on my 6 pound 18 inch Douglas barreled 6.8 SPC II rifle.
