New member here...

can ya tell by my post count? ;)

From reading past postings in this thread, I'm guessing I need to more-or-less direct this to Mr. Mad Dog.

I just inherited a shotgun from my dad who is 93 so you can tell I ain't no Spring chicken myself. However, I was a little kid when this new double barrel showed up in our home and now it's mine(!). There is no serial number on it but it's a Savage Fox Model BSE-D in 12 GA. And it was very lightly used so it's in great shape.

I'm not after a value ('cause it's not for sell) but I'd like to get an aproximate age. I see on the right barrel in a circle close to the chamber end, a "7V" and on the left barrel (also in a circle) what appears to be "67V". Does that make it as simple as being 1967 (one year before serial numbers were required on all firearms)?
Inquiring minds want to know.... Just noticed an oval on the bottom of the action near the hinge, in that oval it says "28V".
