Want to get my son in law into shotshell reloading.

I've reloaded for 16 gauge for 30+ years and still have a couple pounds of
WW571 and WW540 to use up, along with WAA16 wads.
Also use some Herco so know it.

I know nothing about 12 gauge wads, or powders.

Have an old 12ga MEC 650 so bushings won't be a problem.

Would like to cook up an early season pheasant load with about 1 1/4oz lead shot
moving about 1200 fps.

And then a late Nov load with 1&1/2 oz lead shot moving between 1100 and 1200 fps.

Any favorite powders/wads I could study up on.

Will stick with website suggested loads as my Lyman manuals are from the 70's also. Titegroup and Longshot are foreign words to me.

Thanks

Mark

Get a Lyman 5th edition it will have all the info you need.
Or wait for sales at one of the big box stores shot gun shells go as low as $48 a case cheaper than you can reload them.
