I have a Savage 340 30/30 with a new barrel from Gun Parts. My gunsmith said the old barrel, was eroded. The new barrel is much more accurate. I am playing with different loads to get ready for deer season.

We gave our daughter in law a Stevens 200 in 7-08. I load 120 grain Sierra Pro Hunters with 2000 FPS charge of SR. 4759. It works well on hogs and our small white tails.

i enjoy black powder shooting and hunting with my flintlocks and reload for 12 different calibers.

That's probably the best bullet to use in the 1:11.5 twist barrels. You might also want to look at using H4895 powder. Hodgdon published a paper on reduced loads with it. Just Google H4895.
