Out in the shop reassembling the bolt...I notice that the new PTG bolt does not have the U shaped alignment groove on the extractor side of the bolt shaft...did they miss something in the machining?

I notice there is a notch punched into the bolt body for this to slip into...do people grind out this notch so the bolt shaft slides in?

And the new bolt knob...metal is so yesterday...

That's the old type bolt body. Just grind the bump out of the bolt body and you are good to go. Or you could machine the notch into the tail of the bolt head. Either way works fine.

+1, good lookin bolt handle!

Thanks...my plan is to liberally coat the threads with neutral shoe polish (release agent) and dab some Devcon in and then press the handle on to cure...should be able to screw it off forming its own threads..

There is apparently no limit on individual creativity when it comes to gunsmithing. A walnut bolt handle!!! Fantastic, bud.

CAPTBEACH, first off, really like the wood knob, looks great. second, I had the same bolt head and bolt body as yours, swapping out heads I just ground off the tab inside the bolt body and no problems. keep shooting!
