Has anyone taken a look at the 783 and compared/contrasted it to the savage? What besides the barrel nut? How about shank threads, bolt head, stock design, trigger etc. I have not been in a place where I could get a look at the 783. At present I have 2 110 receivers and 4 barrels so I have gooten familiar with wht the 110 offers.

I have looked at and handled it in a store but never shot the 783. Just from looking at it i would say that the forend of the stock is stiffer than the savage stocks. I also like the safety placement and funtion better, but that is completely personal prefrence. Bolt lift and throw, and overall feel of the rifle made me think i was holding a 700 with a barrel nut, basicly they took things i like from the 110 and the 700. I would like to get some trigger time with one

When the 783 first came out, Academy had them priced higher than the 700s. Gander Mountain has them for just over $300 before a rebate is applied. I have handled the 783 and I would buy a Savage or Ruger American before I would buy the Remington.

Yes, the Rem 783, Marlin X7, Savage 10/110 all share the same thread spec. They all take the same barrels. The 783 uses the same bolt heads as the Marlin X7, and PTG sells them for those wanting to change bolt heads. The system is the same theory, but the bolt heads won't swap with a Savage.

WM has
Rem 783 = 249
Sav 10/110=349
Didn't see what the end date was. Could end Sunday?

Didn't see what the end date was. Could end Sunday? The local "Wally World" blows big chunks, they never have any decent deals like your seeing, just the same old Marlin Model 60's and a butt load of shotguns but no decent rifles.

Cambridge, Elk River are for sure. None of the metro do that I know of?
