Just picked up first PTA today! Had to put something on here because you guys are the only ones I know who can appreciate it! RBLP PTA for my Shillen 28" bull nitrided barrel in 243 wssm. This was one of my favorite barrels and can't wait to get back out with it. Still need left hand long action mag bolt face, or right hand. Narrowed my stock options down to a Mcree chassis or a 7 Fingers chassis.

Must wait for a Striker to sell before I can get the stock.

So will you get a gunsmith to cut down the LA boltface to fit your SA bolt ? I have been told by some (but not others ) i need to change the baffle and firing pin as well. Not sure who is right yet but I am determined to make mine a 7mm SAUM. ... I have ordered a few parts and i'm waiting now....

I will cut down the bolt face. Not 100% on the firing pin deal myself. When I had this barrel on a regular action I swapped to a short action mag bolt face. I had to change the firing pin out and maybe even do some drilling in the bolt face. Can't remember. Hopefully, the long action face will work with this firing pin.

Parts........I love parts..........I love that phase were it just begins to resemble a rifle.

Cut down a LA mag head's stem, recut the chamfer in the end of stem, readjust standard firing pin for proper protrusion with the new head. Bingo, you are done.

I have done it, my 6-WSM is running on a model 12 single shot action that has the above done.

As snowgetter said, if you use a factory pushfeed SA-mag bolt head then there is a different firing pin you must use due to the thicker bolt head they use.

Snowgetter, my only question is: why would you ever sell a Striker? ;)

Boots, hated to do it, but had three. Two for hunting and one for target. Target gun had to go. Since retiring from the Army Guard I have lost my influx of play money.

I hear ya man. My income has taken a hit as well, temporarily.

Mabye I should have asked the question differently............."Why did you sell a Striker and not call me?" LOL. ;)

The 7 Fingers chassis is a very nice setup, there are many being shot at the longrange shoot I go to.

Markb317, I really like the idea of being able to add shot for weight to the 7 Fingers. I think it would make a big difference in seeing shots while P-dog hunting. However, the look/style of the McRee really caught my eye.
