Just wondering what the value of a new takeoff barrel from a model 10 FCP McMillan in .308. I am looking at buying it for my switch barrel project. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Usually to appease the savage god's of accuracy, one would give away take off factory barrels to ensure 0.0000000001 moa accuracy for years to come. I donated mine to Detroit's based charity called Stevie Wonder's School for Sharp Shooting. ;-)

or you could ask for $100

On the trading post(paid members) New take-off's are $75-100.

FWIW, I have seen those barrels on that particular model shoot some pretty impressive groups for factory equipment.

That is what I thought. Now what would you pay for a takeoff barrel of that particular model? I just don't want to overpay. Is $200 too much?

yes. I would pay $75. Maybe $100 in a weak moment. All sporter counter barrels are the same value. Heavy (varmint ) contours can go for $100. Whether that one shoots 1/4 or 1/2 inch depends on other factors such as how well the action is bedded, the barrel and tang is free floated and how well the trigger breaks. Some shoot better than others, that is true no matter who made it or for what model. There are much better aftermarket barrels avail from dealers like Apache for less than $200.
