I know that some of you here are in good with some of the good folks at Savage.

Are they making a larger action to handle it? I know some people have made 338 lapua's on Savage actions but I have heard it's really pushing the edge of the safety margins for the size of the action and barrel?

I remember earlier this year there being a rumor about a .50BMG on a Savage action, but it just so happened that that thread was started on April Fool's if I remember right?

What do you remember Fred saying about this project that Savage is jumping into?

Pheeewwwwww...The prospect of a Kirby prefit Allen Mag barrel....That's going to get me in some hot water if that ever comes to fruition. Man....that would be sweeet!! Guess I'll start moving my stuff into the garage ;D.

Awww....Man....Another size Savage action. HMmmmmm......I wonder if I could headspace my 17 Fireball to it and get it pushin near 5K fps??? :)

April fools.....the joke's in you. I spoke with Savage personell yesterday, and they are currently working on a large action specifically for .338 Lapua. It is basically a scaled up version about 25% bigger. But don't get excited.....you won't see this till next year.

I think it will be cool having a large Savage action capable of handling the Lapua round. It will probably be able to handle rounds based on the 378 weatherby case as well.

I might skip the Allen Mags and go straight for new wildcats based on the new 338 Norma mag. 300 and 7mm's will be fantastic. Shorter case but with less taper and sharper shoulder than the Lapua. Nearly the same capacity and velocities.

Shorter case means seating the bullet easier.

4 and 10 round DBM is on my list. ;D

that link looks for real, i see an awful lot of genuine savage in the design.

i just told my shooting buddy that i did not plan on owning anything larger than a 300wsm, i may be eating them words soon.
