I shot 50 rounds this morning out of my 260 and went the wrong way with seating depth so I came home and loaded up 50 more to test tomorrow seated deeper...both H4831sc and H1000 showing great potential at .006 to .008 off lands.

I loaded 30 rounds of 7rm for an even 80 rounds for my son. He has a new 2-10 Monarch for his rifle but as things go will probably be scrambling at the last minute to mount and sight in.

Debating my own next move. Have just about enough powder left to load another 60 rounds for a buddy and another 20 for myself. Then I will be getting short on brass. Might get some Winchester cases they never seem to be out in town.

Kick myself for not.grabbing the 243's while they had em because they were gone the next time. Would have been cheap 260 cases.

I did around 30 44 mag cartridges for my rossi lever gun--265 xtp's driven by win 296--discovered fairly good nodes at 20.7 and 22.1. The gun has been a nightmare to get to shoot right--but hey--I'm an experienced Axis fan so I stuck it through and it now passes as a credible brush gun. lol

I came close to getting a rossi when they were on clearance at WM in 30-30. Reviews were so so figured I'd hold out for a Marlin or Winchester to come around. Only one I stumbled on was on an auction. Was a pre 64 with a full 4 generations of hunting history. Went full price and then some. At $650 I had to walk away. Not sure what it went for after that.

Couple hundred 55gr .223 rounds loaded and cleaned up a new MEC 600 Jr. I picked up for $60. I am seriously considering casting my own slugs for 12 gage.

Cstone, check out the lee slugs that you insert in Winchester AA hulls.I spent the day annealing a couple thousand .223's. I am now starting to resize the whole lot so I can get to the trimming stage and primer uniforming . Thankfully I have a2 graceys all set up for .223 and .308. I can trim them all in a couple hours. Its a lot of work but well worth it.

Not sure what it went for after that. It's kinda like an Axis in that if you really want it be "all it can be" you're going to have to spend some time working on it. In fact, I think it's fair to say you'll probably end up putting twice as much time into it as an Axis. However, it is a fair winchester model 92 clone at a "affordable" price (though in my opinion way over-priced for the quality), and does have a receiver made of steel so is fairly robust. Mine was a "bad one" and had all kinds of issues including a barrel that was canted by extreme pressure of the forearm and front magazine bands. But there is something very special about the way it handles--my 16" SS carbine in 44 mag is the easiest handling weapon I have--which includes several AR's. I like the "retro simplicity" of it--and although I've used iron sights the stock set-up is just too far out the barrel for me to use well--but a basic red-dot works great even if it does violate the cowboy look somewhat. How can you not like a quick-handling carbine that fires 44 mag? lol.

Yes....208g hornady reloader 22 seated .004 exactly off the lands will put 5 rounds through the same hole at 200yds....002 or .006 will open up the groups to 3".
Most finicky riffle ive ever owned.

This is why I've enjoyed having Jim as an acquaintance & Savage Brother. The man's got his priorities lined up in proper order.

I finally had enough time to install a new .270 varmint barrel I bought from somebody here (Can't remember who. It's that "age" thing again). I loaded up 3 types of ammo for an OCW. 130 Nosler BT's, 140 Nosler BT's & Sierra Game Kings in 130gr.
After all the years I used 4831 in my 270's I decided to try a little RL-19. Especially since I have 18lbs of it on hand.

Youll like the RL-19...I shoot 17 and 22 and really like the reloader powders.

Nothing today but tomorrow I'm going to try out neck turning.
I form my 260 brass from win 243 and after a few loadings I start to notice a doughnut.
My chamber is pretty tight in the neck as it is and I wouldn't mind a bit more clearance there anyway.

What neck turner did you get? I've been thinking about turning necks myself and have been looking at all the higher end units.
