Hello gents. I wanted some of your opinions. I have searched the internet and I'm not finding a lot on it. I'm about out of Varget and I have not seen a single pound in a year. What I do see a bit of is IMR4895. Its pretty available right now and I'm thinking about picking up 1-2 pounds and starting load development with it. If it gives me less them .4 MOA I may have a good alternative.

Right now I'm shooting a Savage 12 F-Class 6BR Norma 1/8 Twist, 30 inch barrel.
30G Varget, CCI 450 Magnum Primes, Lapua Brass, 105 Berger Hybrids -.25 off the lands and 2750 FPS average velocity.
Standard Deviation with this setup is 6.41 (2744-2759 fps) and it will hold a .84 inch group at 200 yards.

6BR.com mentioned IMR4895 in their general facts page and I'm running out of powder options. To be honest, I have never even seen R-15 EVER here in Kentucky and I'm one of those guys that will take a day a week and hit most of the major stores searching for a new shipment.

Has anyone here tried IMR4895? What kind of groups are you getting compared to Varget or R-15?

If you can find a SAFE LOAD go for it.
I use IMR4895 in all of my rifles. With my 8twist 243 shooting 105 bergers I stay right around 2836fps and group in the high teens - low two's at 100, with 26" CBI.

You were talking about a "Safe Load". Using 30g of Varget at the last match I pieced two primers (CCI Small Rifle Magnum) and though soothing was wring with my load until I had three other primers not ignite. Maybe a bad batch. Thanks for your reply bud.

ClayC I was trying for 3000fps but when this load put three in the same hole I said whoa. I went home loaded up 10 more at this load with the same seating depth and shot two groups of five into 0.163 & 0.169, that is when I decided to chrono and decided good enough.
Like you I found no loads so I worked off of the 107 load data and started LOW and worked up.No signs of pressure and I could probably reach the targeted speeds but why it is shooting better than I ever expected now.
Sometimes accuracy far out weighs speed.
