Looking for a nice wood stock for a SA stagger feed.

She prefers a monte carlo style like the this:

Other than the Richards listed above or the Boyds Prairie Hunter what else to look at?

Good call thanks. The pic on their site looks like its pretty bulky, looking for something nice and trim. Tried a search but can't seem to find any reviews or other pics of that stock- anyone here using one?

Not of that particular stock, but their other stocks are top notch. Awesome quality and incredible attention to detail. Just don't be in a hurry for their products.

Yeah I've heard all the customer support horror stories but really not in a big rush so would use their stock if it were a little more "sleek" for lack of a better term.

I've been tempted to give Richards Microfit Stocks a try. You'll have finish it yourself, but it looks like they have several nice modes / styles. You will also have to call them with specifics for the action screw spacing, etc.

Mattri Boyds sells a laminate and maybe a walnut or maple. I believe it is the classic but you will need to call because fitment isn't coming up on their website.

Yeah I have the Prairie Hunter and its a good stock. I think the Heritage is more what we're looking for but will keep looking. The other idea was to find someone that will do a replication, for example use a Boyds Heritage as a model and then cut a stock from a blank I provide. Has anyone done anything like this?

Sharp Shooter Supply delivered a Monte Carlo Sporter to me in one week after order. Earlier this year they returned a T&T'd action within 1 week. My chats and email exchanges are quite pleasant.

Since the barrel has not arrived yet (different vendor), I have time for an oil finish, yesterday did a third wet sanding. It looks really good.

The photo on the SSS web site is taken from below the stock which may give a "big" result. That photo belies the stock's easy handling. Upon opening the shipping box you will be surprised at the sleekness of their Monte Carlo Sporter.

Stock thickness - centerline from the recoil pad to the pistol grip - is much thinner than the web pic indicates. And the forearm height (top to bottom) is narrow as well. When wet sanding mineral spirts/oil mix I had to fashion a couple small blocks to fit the wide part of the stock plus narrow forearm. In fact I started with 400 grit to be sure I didn't make the stock any thinner. No part of the stock is bulky.

At one time numrich used to sell some rough walnut blanks that were inleted for savage that you could shape and finish yourself. They are nothing fancy but they turned out good.
