Be aware that you need a good scope, dont cheap out as this caliber can be a bit punishing.

Thanks for your concern. My goto rifle chamberings are the .300 Win Mag (have 3 of them) and .338 Win Mag for most of my big game hunting for the last 35+ years.

Today was my day off and managed to squeezed in some range time. Topped it with one of two extra scope laying around just so I can break-in the rifle.

Ammo: Factory 150gr PP Winchester Super X

Break-in: nylon brush 5X strokes, Butch's bore shine using jag and bore guide, 5X patch, for every 5 shots.

After a box of 20 ...

(shots 21-23 at 100 yards)

(shots 28-30 at 200 yards)

Total shots fired: 30

I am very pleased ... looks like it has very good potential. Will have to develop a load after hunting season.

I am betting a good handload will shrink that right up, but for factory ammo that is doing just fine. Enjoy.

Just doing some upgrades ...

1. Installed Benchmark's tactical muzzle brake (http://www.benchmark-barrels.com/Benchmark_Barrels/Benchmark_Barrels_-_Muzzle_Brakes.html)

I shot 20 rounds of factory ammo and the felt recoil IMHO is similar to .243s.

2. Just installed last night; EGW 20 MOA HD picatinny rail, Burris signature zee rings with inserts, and SWFA SS 5-25x50 HDFFP

Undecided on what to do with the stock at this time ...

I have some initial load developed using IMR 7828 SSC and 215 Berger VLDs and hopefully I get to try them this weekend.
