Someone posted on another thread that when changing bullets weight that you should rezero your rifle. This seems to make sense when jumping from say 120gr to say 162gr. But is this standard practice when when moving from say 139 to 156 when the change is much smaller?

You must always expect to have to re-zero your scope when changing bullets or powders or load or possibly even primers. Even if the bullets weigh the same, they will, in all likelihood, have a different point of impact.

You should also expect it to move when switching from 140 grain Federal to 140 grain Winchesters. Yes, it will move around with ANY change. Of, course you may get lucky and it shoots close enough but that is the exception, not the rule.

Depending on what you are shooting for, you should anticipate verifying your zero any time you have the opportunity. When people travel with their long guns for work (LE, MIL, etc...) they often plan on getting to a local range and verifying their zero even when using the same ammunition, same scope. Rough handling, altitude changes, Murphy...just about anything can and will affect your zero. Besides, any excuse to shoot is a good excuse.

The fellas are telling you right and you'll most likely find out soon enough when you switch ammo.
I do have one rifle that's an freak in 25-06 and will shoot 100gr remington core loct within 1 vertical inch of 120s.
I was shocked.

All good advice..since I don't have Savagitis Part Duex(reloading) will have to stick with a good factory load and see what I can do.

Temperature, altitude and humidity change all affect the point of impact.

I've got lucky one time when my zero didn't change. That was when I had to switch from 168gr SMK to 168gr Speer match due to availability. Had to re-zero my rifle once I switched powder. Expect any change to your load to affect zero.

Luckily I don't reload yet or I might be even more confused. Lol
