Breech end?

Maybe a dumb question, but want to make sure...
How do you tell which end of a barrel blank is the breech end vs muzzle ?

One end is marked with the bore and twist, but that is it... Thanks.

This one came turned 1.200" all the way, only the markings listed above on one end.

The breech end is the end the cartridges go in. The muzzle end is the end the bullets come out.

Just as an afterthought, if the barrel has not yet been chambered, the choice is pretty much up to you. However, being a slave to convention, I'd probably chamber the breech end close to the engraved nomenclature.

it really does sound like he has an unturned bbl blank.
at this point a coin would work just as well for picking one ;)

OK.. Just called the mfg and they stamp the muzzle end of the turned blank.

I guess there is no standard here. I have read on manufacturer's websites that the breech end is stamped.

Who is the manufacturer? I have never seen the muzzel end marked. I have blanks from lilja, krieger,shilen, douglas and A&B They were all stamped on the breach end and had a cut on the muzzel end to mark how much should be cut off and crowned.

Cutting it to 16.5" or 18" (haven't decided yet) and thread it for one of my cans.
