Are any of you guys shooting H1000 in your 260s?
I shot a few loads this morning and its a little slow at 2805 to 2827fps and a very compressed load in my riffle but its very accurate with no pressure signs...I went up to 46g shooting 139g lapua bullets.

No but I have tried 7828SSC and it's also worth looking into.

I havent really found any powder my 260 dont like,RL-22,IMR4350,H1000...H4831SC and RL-17 are my two most accurate loads.ill try the 7828 as ive got several pounds. The only reason I even tried the H1000 was because I was talking to a guy in my squad at the varmint match yesterday that said he shot it in his 260 with great results and if I can get another 50fps and keep the accuracy of what I shot today I may switch to it for the next match.

Yea, lots of choices for the 260.

H100V, R17(easy speed) and 4007SSC( light bullets) to name a few more.
Varget to H1000 is a pretty wide range of workable burn rates.

This could be a good load with seating adjustments or a primer change but to slow

I agree almost any of the slower powders do well. But so far I haven't found any better accuracy then 4350.

I just like being different I guess lol...plus I think I like the tinkering as much as shooting.

Same here, H4350 was a clear leader in the accuracy Dept. with H100V showing some promise as well.
R17 is tied with 7828ssc.

I might have given up on 7828ssc too early. I wasn't seeing the speed I'd anticipated. Have some Magpro thought of trying but it's so close to 7828ssc I sorta anticipated a case full of dissatisfaction.

i tried the magpro once in my 300 and then gave the rest of it away.

I run 34.5 gr. of IMR4895 with 140smk shoots well under moa at 100. Never chrono'd the load but never had a whitetail say it was too slow.

2800 out of a standard 260 doesn't seem to slow to me at all. Extra 50fps isn't really going to make much difference especially if it doesn't shoot as good.

2700 to 2800 with 140's and I'm more than happy.

actually its a 28" shilen select match...and I am by no means a velocity hunter im more concerned with accuracy and the H1000 is definitely that but I get a 2862fps average with H4831SC, a 2910fps average with RL-17 and a 2960fps with RL-22 and all 3 loads shoot as well or better than the H1000 pic I posted. But still 2805fps is respectable considering 46.1g in a 24" barrel shoots a 140g at 2500fps according to hornadys manual. And 50fps does make a difference in the wind out past 500yds and the wind NEVER seems to stop here lol.

Seems to me your wasting ammo then. If you have loads already that give you just as good accuracy and more velocity.

well I guess you can look at it that way but I like to tinker and try new things(I get bored easy)and I love shooting so to me its not a waste of anything its more about learning and doing what I enjoy.

I'm all about tinkering with loads believe me but when I find a good one I move straight to the shooting and honing my skills at long range and pushing my limits

And I do the same thing and play with loads along the way always looking for a better one...but I think im done searching for loads I guess 4 for 1 riffle is plenty, if the powder shortage starts again I have a few back ups lol.im going to see if I can fine tune the H1000 a little saturday and shoot it out to a 1000 1200yds sunday and see how it does.

The only real problem with compressed loads is your bullet can walk out after time changing ogive to rifling change. I always reseat before going shooting if it is a compressed load and it only takes a few minutes of time.
