Anyone here do this to their barrel to increase life ? Ive read some good reviews about taking less powder to make the same FPS, clean easier, and extend barrel life up to 100%.

This sounds like a good think for the barrel burners like 22-250, 7mag etc..

Anyone here have experience with it ?

Have worked with salt bath nitrided(Quench, Polish, Quench) parts in the oilfield industry. This process gives metal parts a .005" to .020" deep case that approaches the hardness of tool steel. It also reduces the porosity of metals, which in turn reduces friction and gives a lubricity to the metal.

Don't have any experience using this process on rifle barrels, but have discussed it with several that do. One precaution that seemed to be mentioned was a thorough cleaning of the barrel. The people that do this process don't want any contaminants(powder or copper fouling) in their tanks.

I wouldnt suggest this for a new barrel from Savage. Those rough bores would never smooth out and be copper magnets forever. Lap it smooth first or at the least a good breakin with a lot of shots.
