I am the proud owner of a Sightron 10-50X60 scope.
I'm mounting it on a savage target action with Shilen 308 bull barrel.
I am trying to get a precisise tube height.

A Ferrel base and Signiture high rings give me the .750 height that I need from the receiver to the bottom of the scope tube.

This is the question.

Will a Burris 30mm Signiture ring hold the heavy Sightron on the 308 without moving in the inserts or will I have to move to a tactical type ring like a KnightForce?

You'll be fine. I have those rings on a 12ga shotgun and the scope dont move, and have them on every Savage I have, including a 308.

Be sure to give us a report on the scope.

30mm Signatures slipped on my Sightron 8-32x on a 338 Lapua no matter how tight I tightened the top screws, even to the point of deforming the inserts (but not the scope!).

Totally fixed it by dusting the inserts with rosin before installing them. The scope hasn't moved one bit since then. Be sure to degrease the rings and the inserts. They often have a very light film of oil in them.

I had a Burris black diamond 8-32x sitting in a set of signature (30mm) rings on a 25 wssm. It never moved at all. Of course I had no where near the recoil level of the 338 L, but maybe a little less recoil than your 308 (my gun was lighter than yours).

I very much doubt you'll have any problems at all.
